This virtually isolated virgin beach on the west coast of Gran Canaria is a paradise of peace and tranquility. Although there is the alternative of arriving by boat, the long hike to Güi-Güi is almost as spectacular as the beach itself.

How to get there

It is located in the worst communicated area of Gran Canaria. From the winding road GC-200 take the detour to Tasartico near La Aldea de San Nicolás. After about 7 km along a narrow road you reach the village. Here tarmac ends, but you can continue by car along a dirt track until you find a sign that indicates the route to the beach (the following map shows how to get here).
From that point you will need to walk about 4 km. You will first ascend rapidly to almost 600 m and then go down to the sea. It is a well marked route where it is difficult to get lost, but you will spend about 2 hours each way. It is not excessively complicated, but you need to be reasonably fit to get there. And of course, it is essential to bring water and food.
There is also another route from San Nicolás de Tolentino.

The beach

It is a relatively small beach (about 300m) that combines rocks with black sand. Except for the ravine through which it is reached, it is surrounded by high vertical cliffs, with some trees at their foot. With low tide, from the far right you can pass to the beach of Güi-Güi Chico.
Due to the difficult access, the occupation of this beach is not very high. Some people camp here.
It is a beach very open to the sea and sometimes there may be strong waves.

In a place so remote, no facilities at all. Everything you need you will have to take with you.

When you arrive at the beach you find a mix of naked and clothed people. There are, perhaps, more nudists in the right zone, further away from the path to the beach. The day I was there, it was nice to see how people who initially wore a swimsuit had taken it off by the end of the day. Güi-Güi seems an ideal place for those who want to try nudism for the first time.

Other nude beaches in the area

I like:
  • The calm at the beach
I don't like:
  • Long hike, even if views are spectacular

I have dedicated most of my free time in the last years to discover the world, and beaches offer some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth. The next step was to enjoy them as naturally as possible, which obviously mean without clothes. Now I think it is time for me to share this liberating experience and try to help others to discover it.
