En Turqueta

For many, the most beautiful beach in Menorca. We could agree, but there are many other serious competitors for this title. Nevertheless, you will not be disappointed by the stunning beauty of this cove in the southern coast. Just one tip: if you can, skip summer time or midday to avoid throngs of people.

How to get there

There are two ways to get to En Turqueta. By car, from the ring road around Ciutadella, take the exit in the roundabout to Sant Joan de Missa and the beaches ("platges"). Follow that road for 5 km and then turn right when you see the sign to Cala En Turqueta. Continue 3 km more and then turn right again through a gate to the car park. From there you have to walk 1 km to the beach.

The second option is to use "Camí de cavalls", the hiking route around the coast of Menorca, either from Cala Galdana or Cala en Bosc. It takes some time, but the views are incredible, and you can make a stop in some wonderful coves like Cala Macarella, Macarelleta or Cala des Talaier.

The beach

Cala en Turqueta is one of many perfect Mediterranean postcard beaches in Menorca: white sand, turquoise water and no waves.
It is approximately 100 m long, divided in two parts by a rocky outcrop. On the right end, some flat rocks can be an alternative to lay down if you prefer avoid sand. On the left, there are low cliffs. The pinetrees reach the beach and are perfect if you are looking for some shade.
Like many other coves in Menorca, it is crowded in the summer months. Yo have to arrive early if you want to find a place in the parking area, but even then, people continue arriving in boats. If you can avoid those months, you will find a different beach, much more quiet.

There are a few tables under the trees. In the summer there are lifeguards.

Not the most "nude" beach in Menorca, but it is said that nudism is allowed on any cove in the island out of the tourist resorts, and we tested it here.
We arrived in the morning. Few people, and most of them with their clothes on (it was chilly). Then the sun appeared and almost everyone stripped to their swimsuits, and so we did. People kept coming, and eventually we saw a couple girls getting naked before putting their bikini, and a man sunbathing in the nude. We copy them (a bit upset for not having done that before) and stayed naked the rest of the day. Nobody raised an eyebrow, but it was early May. Maybe (probably) it is different in July or August.

Other nude beaches in the area

  • Cala Macarelleta
  • Cala Macarella
  • Cala des Talaier

I like:
  • Easy access, either on foot or by car
  • Wonderful landscape
I don't like:
  • Not really a nude beach
  • Crowded in the summer

I have dedicated most of my free time in the last years to discover the world, and beaches offer some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth. The next step was to enjoy them as naturally as possible, which obviously mean without clothes. Now I think it is time for me to share this liberating experience and try to help others to discover it.
