Taking into account that this is a pebbly beach (while most others around are sandy), and that there is a long walk to reach it, it is hardly surprising that Oleiros is not the most visited beach in the area. What a pity for those that miss the astonishing beauty of this beach.

The northernmost part of the Iberian peninsula facing the Atlantic Ocean (sometimes referred as Green Spain) is integrated by the four Spanish regions that ocuppy the coastal strip lying north of the Cantabrian and Basque mountains along the Bay of Biscay, from Galicia in the West to the Basque Country in the East. The total coastline is 2,493 km long.
It is called "green" because its wet and temperate oceanic climate helps lush pastures and forests thrive, providing a landscape similar to that of Ireland, Great Britain, and the west coast of France. This region has one of the mildest climates in Europe, with little variations between summer and winter. Average temperatures go from 10 to 22ºC.
Tourism development has been slower than in the Mediterranean coast, and so it is still possible to find here many unspoilt beaches and natural landscapes hardly touched by man.

Cuba is located in the northern Caribbean where the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Atlantic Ocean meet. It is south of both the U.S. state of Florida and the Bahamas, west of Haiti, and north of Jamaica. Cuba is the largest island in the Caribbean, with an area of 109,884 square kilometres and a coastline 5,746 km long, including the main island, Isla de la Juventud and the more than 4,000 islands and cays in the surrounding sea and bays.
The local climate is tropical, with a drier season from November to April, and a rainier season from May to October. Hurricanes are common in September and October. The average temperature is between 21°C (January) and 27°C (July).
Tourism was initially restricted to enclave resorts, but it have experienced a rapid growth in the last years, when Cuba has tripled its market share of Caribbean tourism and this growth rate is predicted to continue

Playa Pilar

Nudism is officially forbidden in Cuba, but there are a few beaches around tourist ressorts in the cays where it is more or less openly tolerated. Even if some hotels in Cayo Largo allow nudism in their beaches and have even designated specific areas for it, there isn't any naturist resort in the country.

Below you can find a map with most of the beaches in Cuba where nudism can be practiced. Take into account that as new resorts are built, and the management of the existing ones may change, the "tolerance" level may change quickly. Please check by yourself the current status of these beaches.

Tolerated Beaches

  1. Playa Pilar (Cayo Guillermo)
  2. Cayo Largo
  3. Cayo Santa María
  4. Cayo Ensenachos

Luckily you don't always need to drive dozens of kilometres along narrow roads or long walks to get to a nude beach. Praia do Salto is very close to a tourist town in Alentejo, but cliffs provide enough privacy.
