Los Genoveses

Very long beach in Cabo de Gata, not far from San Jose. One of the most popular among beachgoers in Cabo de Gata, it may even be overcrowded in some summer days. The wind may help to support the heat in this area, but sometimes it can be too strong. Nevertheless, kitesurfers will love it. The beach is long enough to allow nude sunbathing in one end.

How to get there

By car, you must follow the instructions to the beaches south of San Jose, following the unpaved road for 4 km. In summertime, you have to pay to park (5€), and these places get full early in the morning. At that moment the road is closed at San Jose. A bus connects then the town with the main three beaches.
Take the first detour on your left to the car park right for Los Genoveses beach. Look for the shadow and, if possible, try to find a place under the trees.

The beach

Long, sandy and windy, this may be the best description. While most beaches in the area are surrounded by cliffs, Los Genoveses is part of a wide plain area with little vegetation apart from a pine forest on the left end.
This 2 km stretch of sand is only interrumpted by a couple of rocky outcrops near the western end. From here, the land rises to the colourful Genoveses Point, a rocky cape that closes the beach to the west and separates it from Cala Amarilla and other coves.
To the left, Los Genoveses ends at the foot of the highest cliff in the area. The last houses of San Jose are perched on it, but they are hidden from most of the beach.
The beach is windy enough to be a perfect spot for kitesurfers. It is usual to see many of them flying over the waves all along the shore.

The parking lot is the only concession to tourism. Not far from the beach, though, there is a restaurant in the road that connects all the beaches in this area.

The center of the beach, in front of the car park, is a textile area with lots of people. To the right, you find less and less beachgoers, until the beach is almost empty. However, I haven't seen anybody naked here, probably because many people goes through this section in its way for other beaches.
Nudists usually concentrate in the left end, in front of the trees. Mingled with textiles at the beginning, and then an overwhelming majority the more you move to the left. Total respect for everybody.

Other nude beaches in the area

I like:
  • Long beach, plenty of space to walk
I don't like:
  • Too many people for those who like deserted beaches
  • Extremely windy

I have dedicated most of my free time in the last years to discover the world, and beaches offer some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth. The next step was to enjoy them as naturally as possible, which obviously mean without clothes. Now I think it is time for me to share this liberating experience and try to help others to discover it.
