Although it is possible to cross over the dunes from the parking lot in Valdearenas each, maybe the best way is parking at the top of the pine forest, right after taking the road to the beach. Several paths to the beach start here.
The beach
At high tide all what remains is a very narrow strip of sand between the river and the trees. At low tide, it is almost possible to cross the river walking through the wet sand. The pines are quite useful if you are looking for some shade.
Services
On both sides of the parking lot of Valdearenas there are several restaurants, showers, first-aid posts... everything you can need appart from sunbeds or umbrellas (you will find it very seldom on the cantabrian coast). Out of this central section, lifeguards only go periodically.
Nudism
It is possible all along the beach, but in the section closer to the river end textiles make up the majority. Most sunbathers here are men, and the ratio still increases if we only count the nudists (hardly any naked woman), specially among those between the trees.
- Sheltering in the shade of the trees when it is too hot under the sun
- The strange feeling of being in a men-only beach
- The difficulty to find a spot deep enough to swim
