One of the few sandy beaches on the west coast in Crete. The area is quite isolated, touristically developed enough to allow to sleep there, but not so much. There are only small hotels and appartments, mainly in the north side. The beach is very long, with different areas for nudists and textiles.

Falassarna nude beach (Crete, Greece)

Falassarna nude beach (Crete, Greece)

How to get there
Falassarna lays in the northwest corner of the island. A small winding road (but in a good condition) takes you there from Kissamos. If you arrive from the south of the beach, the largest parking lots are there, but if you continue northbound several tracks appear on your left that lead directly to the nude beach.

The beach
It is divided into several zones by the rocks that stand out from the sand. The main area is on the south. Very long and wide, here is where we can find all the facilities and most of the people. Although the beach is quite flat, there is a high step to enter the sea. Sandy bottom and calm water with hardly any wave, perfect to swim.
To the north, only separated by a few rocks, we can find another beach, similar to the first one, but smaller and quieter. Curiously enough, the step dissapears here. On the contrary, the slope is so low that it takes several metres into the water to be able to swim.
Following our way, after another barrier of larger rocks we arrive to the nudist area. More or less the same size of the previous one, but here several scattered rock appears between the sand.
Finally, there is a small cove on the northern end where the rocks create a sort of seawater pool without any wave. It is difficult to sunbathe here, since there are more rocky areas than sand.

Several bars, sunbeds and umbrellas, lifeguards... but only in the textile area.

The third area described before is the only one I can say is nudist. I supose it is also possible to take out your clothes in the last one. I did it, but at that time I was the only person there. In fact, this is the only secluded place. The "official" nude area is quite open, and the rocks don't hide you totally from the view of the people in the textile beach. Moreover, one of the paths coming from one of the hotels takes you directly there.

I like:
  • The incredible sunsets
  • The sand, so difficult to find in Cretan beaches
  • The sea

I have dedicated most of my free time in the last years to discover the world, and beaches offer some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth. The next step was to enjoy them as naturally as possible, which obviously mean without clothes. Now I think it is time for me to share this liberating experience and try to help others to discover it.
